The Sternwheeler Steamboat Natchez IX is the newest and largest (1600 passenger) all steel sternwheeler steamer excursion boat built in the United States in this century. It travels along the mighty Mississippi River where the Spanish, the French, the Pirates and Cajun have, each in their turn, held sway for 250 years of eventful history. Named after a similar proud vessel which plied these same waters over 140 years ago and raced with Robert E. Lee's Wheeler to St. Louis in 1870.
