Brulatour Courtyard

from $6.00

Brulatour Court, formerly Seignouret Court 520 Royal Street, was built in 1816 by Francois Seignouret of Bordeaux France, a wine importer and furniture maker of note. From 1870 to 1886, Pierre Ernest Jules Brulatour, another wine importer and pioneer of early motion picture, owned the building. The time worn stone slabs of the courtyard were used as ballasts for the Spanish ships. They were highly priced for this purpose and for sidewalks since there is no natural stone of any kind in New Orleans.
